Hi my name is Chase Jones and I am a queer youth in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I was born and raised in this town. It wasn’t until recently I have come out to my family, and friends. I think I have always known that I was part of the queer community. I wasn’t a normal boy. I always wanted to play with Barbie’s instead of cars, but my father would never let me. I had a pretty good upbringing and not much troubles. I went through all of middle school questioning my sexuality. When I went to high school, I went to the GSTA and learned about the different genders that there was more than just two. I discovered that I was gender fluid. I then came out to my friends and they introduced me to a place called Inside Out. It is a safe place where queer youth can be themselves. About 4 months later my mom read through my texts and found out that I was queer. She talked to me privately and was completely okay with it. She was just upset I didn’t tell her myself. We decide not to tell my dad just in case he wasn’t ok with it. I still haven’t come out to him or any other one of my adult family members because they are mainly closed minded. All of that has brought me to where I am today. I am comfortable with who I am and I accept myself for who I am.
